Description: It’s a privilege to introduce you to Dr. Jean Shinoda Bolen world-renown author, and speaker. Dr. Bolen, a psychiatrist, a Jungian analyst is known for her contributions to our understanding of archetypes, symbolism, and goddesses/gods as well as her activism working for women’s rights globally.
Her book, Like a Tree, How Trees, Women, and Tree People Can Save the Planet began with personal experience, one that led her to discover ‘tree people and tree huggers’. She weaves their stories within the life of trees: how trees contribute to our environment and more importantly to our culture as one of many species living on this planet. Dr. Bolen relates deforestation to the many waves of abuse women still suffer today.
Join us for a deep and timely look at culture, the COVID-19 virus, trees and us.

Oh my, the synchronicity! From you, ( sent to me by my friend Deb) & the universe again hit me like a rock wrapped in soft wool.
I saw this weeks ago & afraid to read it..the trees..connection. love Bolen.
Afraid. Why?
We’re selling off some of our 20 acres to a friend & in the process need a new driveway. Two pine trees have to come out. Over & overworking with road dept. To find another way, to no avail. So for weeks, I’ve been struggling with grief at what to tell these two perfect trees. Of course, they are perfect, not blighted by the fricking pine beetle. They are the last two in a line of other pines, maybe 20 years old.
Now, I just beg for their forgiveness & let the other trees know they are not in danger of being cut down. I am trying to think of what more I can do? A ritual will come I hope. What does a tree need before being ripped from its home?
I’m planting more of course, somewhere safe. Planted some cedar early spring in the rotting corpse of two huge pine..they miraculously survived & are flourishing.
Anyway..it was a beautiful interview & helped me connect..want the book.
Now I’ll go walk among them & hope they will forgive me. Some big hugs & useless explanations.
Had to think of a name for the road being created to the lower 5 acres among the trees.
It will be Nematonia Loop. To remind me of the sacred space the trees create.
Much love
Patrice
Loved your story and your compassion for the trees. Thank you so much for sharing it. Dr. Bolen tried the good fight for her tree and lost. All we can do is try and give thanks.
