Natural vs Organic on Our Food Labels: What’s the Difference?

This video is a spoof on what natural on our food labels really means. While sadly funny it gets the message across: natural doesn’t mean anything anymore on our food labels.

My students are usually uninformed consumers about labeling facts and are often surprised to know what organic vs natural really means. Besides building soil and reducing pesticide residues in waterways “organic” is the only label designation we have that ensures the food:

1. does not contain hormones

2. not irradiated

3. not grown with pesticides

4. does not contain genetically modified organisms

When grocery shopping, look for this symbol on the labels.
